Build a list of companies to find prospects based on specific search criteria, including location, industry, news, and more.
You can do the following tasks on the List Build page:
- Add company filters
- Add people filters
- Add Insights filters
- Save search criteria
- Export a list of people or companies
Add company filters
Step | Description | Details |

1 | Launch the List Build page |
Go to InsideView CRM View and then click Build a List. or In the InsideView Web View interface, click Build a List. |
2 | Enter the company list criteria | On the Build a List page, enter the search criteria for your company list.

3 | Search with the Location |
The Company Location: Geography list enables you to search for companies using the following location types:

4 | Search with Employee count and Revenue | Use the Employees and Revenue fields to enter a range for the employee count and the revenue of the companies you want to target.
For example, if you enter 100 to 500 in the Employees and 5M to 2.5B in Revenue fields, the search returns only those companies with 100-500 employees working for them and with revenue that ranges from 5 million to 2.5 billion US dollars. Note: The number of companies available in the InsideView database adjusts automatically based on your search criteria. |
5 | Search by Industry type and industry classification |
In the Companies tab, select an industry from the Industry drop-down list, then select any applicable sub-industries. For example, select the Banks industry and Commercial Banking sub-industry.
Note: You can also enter an industry's SIC or NAICS code. The InsideView database will allow you to search using either 2007 or 2012 NAICS codes. InsideView has its own proprietary classifications, which consolidate these differing global standards into 30 top-level industries and 708 sub-industries. 6 | Add other search criteria | Click the plus (+) button to open the Filters dialog and add the additional search criteria filters. |
7 | Enter Company location filters | In the Filters dialog, select the Companies tab to enter the following company search criteria:
Company Location: Enter the company location filter by selecting the following options:
For example, select the United States option to filter based on states in the USA. Once you have selected all states, click Done to return to the Filters dialog. |
8 | Enter company names | In the Companies tab, select the Company Name option from the drop-down list to search for the name of the company.
Enter the company name or select from type-ahead suggestions. For example, enter Bank of America Corporation or select any result from the suggestions as illustrated: |
9 | Enter company status | In the Filters dialog, select the Companies tab, select the Company Status option to choose the status of a company from the drop-down list.
For example, you can select Operating, Subsidiary, or Acquired. Note: Click the toggle to enable the Include out of business companies option to search all companies that are not operating. |
10 | Enter Fiscal Year End (FYE) | In the Companies tab, select the Fiscal Year End option to choose the fiscal year end month of a public company from the drop-down list.

11 | Enter the ownership type | In the Companies tab, select the Ownership Type of a company from the drop-down list.
For example, you can select Public, Private or Government. |
12 | Enter the suppression list | In the Companies tab, select the Suppression List option to suppress companies from your search results, then select an existing company list as illustrated below:

13 | Enter the Ticker value | In the Companies tab, select the Ticker option to search for companies based on their stock market ticker symbol. For example, enter BAC to search for the Bank of America Corporation.
Click Apply. |
People Filters
Build a list of targeted people at a set of companies to find new prospects or add them to marketing campaigns.

4 | Search with Contact Location |
The Contact Location filter allows you to search for contacts based on their location: Enter the name of a city, state, or country and select from the type-ahead suggestions to choose locations as illustrated: If you have entered values for a company location, employee count, industry, revenue, or other company search criteria and you wish to modify them or add more filters, read the article How to Build a Company List article in our Knowledge Base. 5 | Search with Contact Info |
Use the Contact Info list to search for people according to the following criteria:

Open the Filters dialog by clicking the plus (+) button in the left pane to modify your search criteria or add additional search criteria. |

On the search results page, point to a person’s name to view a summary of their details. If you want to make changes to your search criteria, click Modify Criteria. |

Insights Filters
Go to the Filters dialog and select the Insights tab to search for companies with the following search criteria:

1 | Go to the Insights tab | On the “Build a List” page, click the plus (+) button to open the Filters dialog and select the Insights tab to add additional company search criteria.
In the Insights tab, click the Connections link to search for people you are connected to based on the connection types that matter to you. For example, you can select People you know with affiliations through your Alumni to find direct connections with target prospects. If you select People your coworkers know to find connections through their affiliations, your list will include people your co-workers are connected to. To modify agents as per your business requirement, follow these steps:

2 | Enter the Technology filter |
In the Insights tab, select the Technology option and click the plus (+) icon to choose from thousands of technologies that companies use today. Note: The Technology filter is only visible to users who have purchased the Elite license and those users who have brought the “Tech Profiler” add-on package for their organization. |
3 | View the details and modify criteria | On the search results page, click on a company to view a summary of the company details.

4 | Save List | To save companies to a list, select Companies and click Save, then select the Save to a New List option or choose an existing list to add companies to.

5 | Save Search | To save your search criteria, click Save and enter a name for your search for future reference.

Save a Search Criteria

Note: If you have a Trial license of InsideView Insights, your saved searches will automatically get converted when you upgrade to a paid license.
Export a List of People or Companies
Export a list of companies or people you're interested in.

2 | Select the list to export |
If you haven’t already built a list to export, go ahead and build the list. Read the articles How to Build a People List and How to Build a Companies List for more information. or On the left side of the Build a List page, select the saved search that you want to export from the My Saved Searches dropdown. |
3 | Click Export | On the Search Results page, click Export, and then click Company or People based on which list you want to export. For example, in the Export dropdown, select the Export People to CSV file option: On the confirmation, pop-up click Export. Note: The number of company records you can export depends on how many credits you have remaining. |
4 | Save the file | Save or open the exported file. |
