InsideView Security Authentication Overview

Follow

InsideView offers multiple authentication methods, including single sign-on (SSO) compatibility via CRM session-based authentication, OAuth, and SAML to make logins seamless between your CRM and InsideView.

CRM session-based

Where available we take advantage of the CRM applications’ native authentication, which requires only a valid CRM session to access InsideView.

This method is leveraged for Salesforce, NetSuite, and Oracle CRMs.

No action is required for the user or CRM administrator.

OAuth

OAuth allows a trusted relationship between two sites after one-time authorization. InsideView will authenticate automatically with no additional customer-side setup.

InsideView supports CRM’s OAuth implementation for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online, Sugar 7 CRM

No action is required for the user or CRM administrator.

SAML

InsideView supports SAML authentication for those customers who authenticate to their CRM via a SAML service.  If you are not using one of  the CRMs listed above but do currently authenticate to your CRM via a SAML service, you may wish to take advantage of this method.

Your CRM administrator needs to work with your IT department to configure InsideView as a relying party in your SAML Identity Provider and to provide information for the InsideView Self-serve admin panel. See SAML Setup Instructions for details on our Knowledge Base.

User Login

If your CRM does not support a method for SSO or your organization does not use an SSO service such as SAML, InsideView will default to individual user authentication via username and password.

Once a user logs in to InsideView, the permission will be stored in a cookie so that the user will not get a request to login again for 30 days (unless the cookie is deleted). In addition, the cookie will refresh every time the user logs in.

No system level setup is required. Users will receive an email asking them to set up a password for InsideView.

If a user forgets a password, the InsideView login screen provides a link to reset it.

For details on User Login instructions, refer to Nuts-and-Bolts of Individual User Security Authentication on our Knowledge Base.
